Survivin, thanks for copying the article.

AMD has never shown any leadership. The company has always been a follower. The company only toys with original architecture, instead of being original.

What a piece of crap. Looks like the author got stuck in the '90s. Since the K6 and especially the Athlon AMD has invented many original new technologies and taken the performance lead from Intel. Although the author makes some good points (e.g. AMD not using all opportunities in the past) he mainly repeats the same old stories about AMD being a second-class cpu manufacturer. As long as there are still people thinking like him AMD never will get the respect it deserves. I believe only constant good earnings and reliability can improve that.

Andreas

"AMD is honestly shocked by the fact that it is now ahead of Intel in this game"

Comment: Don't think it's AMD who is shocked...Mr. Sanders has his wagons circled and has no intention of taking prisoners...AMD's Athy is the best price/performer product at every level of the consumer market and has clearly now set its sights on the mobile, workstation and server spaces...Definitely not the evolution of a plan that in any way seems surprising to Mr. Sanders or to anyone who has followed events over the past year...AMD has a plan and AMD is working that plan, almost flawlessly, and as a result, has pre-empted the leadership role hael by INTC since the advent of the microprocessor...

No, it's not AMD who is honestly shocked by the fact that it is now ahead of Intel in this game...it is this author, the Hale-Bopp analyst and his entourage and Intel who have been honestly shocked...and what's more, AMD's going forward plan is so "tight" that these shocked parties are likely to slip into a state of narcosis over the next couple of months...
