oh, is that why stock futures are running up? i hear there was "double counting of quality improvements"..in other words, their hedonic horses got away from them.

"has been slightly higher" is a joke of course....it was probably two to three times higher...the shelter component alone reads like pure fantasy, as does the energy component (the areas which we can independently verify...judging from the incredible error sizes in those, one can infer the same reporting errors occur in other components).

It was a last-minute present by the president to raise the annual bump for government benefit programs. The next CPI report is the last month included in the current FY CPI to be applied in January to gov programs.
