. . . I find everyone's defense of Lindy's buys and sells ludicrious. To be honest, I half agree with the previous posters opinion. Lindy may have proved genius with his strong move into Q a while back, but as of late, he has shown a knack for buying high and selling low.

You may not agree with Lindy's trades. But he is extremely open about what he is doing at any point and, more importantly, why. He has a sharp mind and is willing to go against the flow.

You can then agree or disagree with him. You can follow him or assess what he is doing and do your own thing.

Like most of us, Lindy is sometimes correct and other times off track. But he stands out as someone willing to share both his foibles and triumphs.

We all benefit from Lindy's input.

KY, I have not measured Lindy's portfolio performance this year, but you or I will be proven right by January 1, I'll bet.

I don't equate the environment here to a "country club", but I do understand your perspective. I see it more as a discussion group that has been meeting for the better part of 2 years. That group has grown and changed somewhat over that time, but its objectives and focus have remained constant.

It is probably uncomfortable for someone to get up the nerve to join in, but after lurking for a while, one should pretty well understand what is going on and determine if and when one has something to contribute even in the form of a question.

Dropping a bomb from out of the blue on someone like the subject poster did certainly contributes nothing.

But your post does contribute positively by letting us know you are benefitting and expressing your concern about how hard it is to break in here.

If you will recall, we have several very valuable, regular contributors here that were not around even 2 months ago.

OTHOH, that other thread where most of hang out as mudgeons has no socially redeeming value whatsoever. It is a country club, but in the sense of being in the sticks with a bunch of losers who have nothing to do but talk about nothing.
