Steve, could the drop in price have anything to do with hiring the public relations guy from Lexar Media? Now THERE'S a twist. Come to think of it, many of those on this discussion board have thought Lexar did a pretty good job of public relations--better than SanDisk. And maybe Lexar doesn't look like a very good long term employment opportunity, come next month. Maybe we shouldn't wait till October to buy more!

I think Steve667 is absolutely right...
"Yep! The sound you hear is all the SNDK shareholders selling their stock so they can buy some SSTI shares."

I think that they money is defintely flowing out of SNDK and into SSTI. In a market like this, new money isn't exactl flowing in, so I surmise that money already invested in this sector is flowing within the sector, and OUT of SNDK.

No doubt about it, SNDK has been a real dog the past 4 months. A complete disconnect between the company and the stock. Sandisk Inc. is growing 40% Q to Q and triple digits Year to Year. Every single news release I've read about the future of portable devices, digital photography, and other flash-necessary realms has presented opportunities for Sandisk to virtually print their own $$$ money, but alas, the stock has suffered ever since the blow-out last Spring.

Until Sandisk announces more blowout Earnings and indicates that Europe will not have a detrimental effect to Sales, SNDK could keep heading lower.

I'm thinking of adding more, but to tell the truth, I'm not sure where the bottom is at this point. Maybe today was it?

Down 6 points now. Ugh.

"The sound you hear is all the SNDK shareholders selling their stock so they can buy some SSTI shares. Yes sir, all that talk about getting the big block of shares out of SEG hands and into the hands of many, many individual shareholders sure has made a difference, hasn't it?"

Steve, I still have this Utopian vision that companies like SanDisk who have executed a magical (yes, magical) cross-over between esoteric, high tech, semiconductor research and highly appealing & practical consumer devices will have unprecedented popularity among the retail investors who will eventually encounter a SanDisk product. This is a purely Lynchian concept.

I have previously called this "The Iomega Effect"...

...but now I realize this is a terrible misnomer.

At the risk of being overly optimistic or painfully naïve I still believe that a broader shareholder base, with or without further splits, would be desirable.

If you care to poke fun at me, that is your own prerogative. I never expected this phenomenon to happen overnight. Digital photography is a nascent market. MP3 is a nascent market. PDA's are an adolescent market. Web phones are neonatal. I think current SNDK shareholders are way ahead of the curve. I have the patience to sit it out.

That's why they call me...

SanDisk...soon to be a household name.
