well, we were talking US and Europe to a lesser degree. The third world can resist the future for a longer time.

Besides, no one said the likes of AT&T el at couldn't make a profit, just that the internet would continue to drive LD rates toward zero necessitating a new model for AT&T et al to profit. Middlemen, of course, will lose hugely. That's the iron rule of the internet.

Because they still have to get users on the network to charge them for services... this is different than per minute billing.

Why does WalMart spend money on contruction of new stores if they don't make a profit? THis is called a capital expense.
