Alcatel First to Demonstrate Full MPLS Interoperability on Carrier Class Core Platform BusinessWire, 09/26/2000 09:55 ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2000-- Alcatel Successfully Interoperates Complete MPLS Protocol Suite on Alcatel 7670 Routing Switch Platform (RSP) Alcatel (Paris:CGEP.PA) (NYSE:ALA) today announced that it is the first vendor to interoperate both multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) protocols on a real-world carrier class core switch. During Networld + Interop's recent interoperability test Alcatel successfully interoperated both constraint based routed-label distribution protocol (CR-LDP) and resource reservation protocol with traffic engineering (RSVP-TE) on its highly regarded 7670 RSP. Achieving full MPLS interoperability marks a key milestone in the aggressive roll-out of Alcatel's multiprotocol core networking platform. Achieving it before anyone else demonstrates Alcatel's leadership position in the highly competitive core market.
