James A. Dwyer Elected to Mercury Computer Systems' Board of Directors
Wireless Industry Entrepreneur Strengthens Mercury's Telecommunications Efforts
CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2000--

Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY - news), a leading provider of embedded real-time digital signal processing systems, announced today the election of James A. Dwyer to its board of directors, effective September 18, 2000.

James Dwyer's wealth of experience in starting and building several communications businesses is expected to contribute significantly to the guidance provided by the board of directors. ``His expertise and knowledge of the telecommunications industry, with a focus on mobile wireless, is a perfect fit for Mercury,'' said Jay Bertelli, president and CEO of Mercury Computer Systems. ``With his recognized leadership and background he will significantly contribute to Mercury's wireless strategy as we enter into this explosive growth market.''

Mr. Dwyer's latest venture was Wireless One Network Inc. (d/b/a Cellular One), headquartered in Fort Myers, Fla., which he sold to AT&T Wireless. He also started and was president of American Cellular Telephone Corp., one of the earliest cellular companies, which he sold to Bell South in 1987. He is a founding member of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) and former chairman of the executive committee.

Mr. Dwyer was recently honored for his foresight and leadership with The President's Award for outstanding contribution from the CTIA. ``James Dwyer is the father of competitive wireless communications,'' said Tom Wheeler, president and CEO of the CTIA. ``His proven track record, industry experience and dynamic leadership qualities have and will continue to shape the digital wireless industry.''

Looks like we beat by quite a bit. Expected earnings were .22, quarter came in at .31. Now that earnings are coming back into vogue, perhaps we'll get some attention (when the bloodletting is through).
