This is probably extremely close to Microsofts development method.

What you miss in this list is:

1) Which features will you earn most money on. This doesn't have to be based on demand.
2) Don't make your product so good, that people wouldn't upgrade to the next version thereafter.
3) Technical improvements, that make development easier (cheaper) for you in the long run.

As a buyer, I prefer software vendors, who put much emphasis on 3), and dislike software vendors, who put emphasis on 2). Microsoft seems to put much emphasis on 2).
