Dave,

You might be surprised how much DRAM is going into embedded systems these days. There are several hundred exhibitors at the ESC, and I'll gather some data this afternoon. How many DRDRAM systems do you think I will see?

It is too late for Timna to redo the memory controller for a sensible choice of DRAM, so they are having to come up with a functional MTH. Either way, the problem is that DRDRAM is too expensive, and they need to use SDRAM.

It is not clear to me why you are having a hard time believing that low cost systems can not use expensive memory.

Dave,

Timna will still have an RDRAM controller built-in, according to EBN.

It will look great in the Intel museum. Do you still think it is practical to put DRDRAM in a low cost embedded system?
