dwd: You know I am not a big fan for buying calls. If you have to the following is a better formula:
1. If you are at the bottom, buy ITM (in the money) short term calls.
When these lose time value because of stock rise sell, buy the stock and write LEAP calls (if the trend is changing.

At market lows: ITM ST calls, then stock buys, then LEAP selling.
At top buy DITM LEAPs and sell JOTM ST calls.
Using these basic strategies you can develop your overall strategy.
I plan to buy Dell Oct 30 calls in the next couple of days.
And CMGI Oct 25 calls. This will be the first time after a long time I will be buying these.
I got hit pretty bad when etrade changed their margin policy with a few minutes notice. As it turned out they did me a favor(they are still SOBs). Now I have cash to buy at these low rates and changed the broker to MYDB.
I hope some of my freinds can share their experiences with this broker.
Good luck to you. Your Qwest seem to be pulling out ok.
