LAS-CDMA may indeed be a break through.
The breakthrough may be diplomatic and political. I predict the Q will strike a deal with the Chinese to "develop" this technology for which the Chinese will get a lot of credit and QCOM will collect 95% of the royalties. The Chinese save face, CDMA moves into place while LAS-CDMA is being "refined" and a token royalty is paid to the Chinese. The channel architecture is remarkably similar!
