"A spate of negative publicity has given the company a particularly bumpy ride. For example, it was recently reported that William Shatner, Priceline's high-profile spokesperson, does not use the firm's services because he always flies first class and has no use for the name-your-own price system. "

This is a surprise LOL. They must have been kidding. Anyone that really thought William Shatner needed to save money by buying tickets on Priceline should not be in the stock market.

Facts and figures

BOL International (www.bol.com) is the international Internet media and entertainment
shop of Bertelsmann, one of the world's largest media concerns with over 74.000 employees
in more than 50 countries.

In the European BOL shops, BOL gives its customers access to more than 5 million book
titles and over 800.000 music CDs. Through a link to the sister company
barnesandnoble.com (www.bn.com), customers may take advantage of a wide selection of
additional North American items.

On 4 February 1999, following a start-up and development phase of only nine months, BOL
launched its first shops in Germany (www.bol.de) and France (www.bol.fr).

Additional BOL shops followed in March 1999 in the UK (www.uk.bol.com) and the
Netherlands (www.nl.bol.com).

Then in September 1999, BOL launched operations in both Switzerland (www.bol.ch) and
Spain (www.es.bol.com).

In March 2000 BOL formed a 50-50 joint venture with bokus.com, the leading Internet
bookshop in Northern Europe with customers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
With this move, BOL is now market leader in the European countries with the highest levels of
Internet users as a share of the population.

With local shops in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, BOL is also represented in the
Asian market. Customers in these countries have a selection of over 1.5 million
English-language titles.

The total number of BOL Internet media and entertainment shops launched since the start in
February 1999 adds up to 14. The next phase of this extraordinary dynamic geographic growth
is already underway with the upcoming introduction of BOL in Italy, China and South Korea.

BOL has about 400 employees worldwide in its local shops (Rheda, Munich, London, Paris,
Utrecht, Barcelona, Scandinavia, and Asia), the customer service division (Dortmund), the
product development team (New York) and in Switzerland.
