Politicians from the DPP criticized government intervention in the stock market, saying state-controlled funds should be used to shore up stocks only when the market is undermined by natural disasters or the threat of war, the China Post reported.

The newspaper, citing Hong Chi-chang, a party member who sits in parliament, said the government should establish more comprehensive economic and financial policies to help the market.
