Yet I don't have an answer for the first set of problems that is any better than theirs. You think you do and maybe you do, but you haven't convinced me yet that the resolution is in not trying to resolve the problems in the first place.

The point is that you do know better what to do with the money you earn than the government does. That is, or ought to be, self-evident. Just ask yourself whether the government knows what you need better than you do. I think you'll say no. And if it's true for you, it's true for everyone.

Once you accept that as an ineluctable fact, the answers to your other questions get much easier to find.
