Hey Pat,
Velo and I have traded together for about a year. I saw volume and upticks and short covering and I alerted him to it. finance.yahoo.com
As it turned out he had already covered. I can't speak for him, but no I do not always advocate covering shorts at the end of the day. I have no crystal ball and so can not tell you what HGSI nor the mkts will do tomorrow. I trust my gut and today it was backed up by the numbers. On any other day, it could have been a different outcome. Not a science you know....

Pat....the name of the game is to make profit. I shorted at 175 and covered at 164 for 11 points. When you're up that far don't worry about keeping money on the table. Better to take your money and run rather than seeing it disappear. It could possibly go down more tomorrow, but I trade day by day and my positions change constantly. I take profits when I can and don't worry about getting the absolute bottom.
