If you think you can defend yourself against a thug with a gun you're just stupid. Please (God forbid you get yourself into such a situation ) don't try it. I'd hate to see you get hurt. I will let you in a secret. Humans by nature are a helpful lot. They try to help each other. Thugs are but a small minority and they will usually try to intimidate you for your money/belongings. I have my own encounter with such thugs and on surrendering the little money I had on me, they let me go. But the key is, use some common sense and try not to get into such a situation. Also stronger laws can prevent such things from happening. Prisons in my opinion are lenient in this country (with facilities for workout, lot of food, TVs, Libraries etc.). The prison life should be such that, it should deter thugs from committing a crime. Now check out the crime frequency in countries where people are disarmed and then get back to me. You guys are just consumed by the fear of lurking thugs all around and thus the reliance on guns. Atleast that's what NRA makes you believe.
