Dave,

You used a number of $219 for 128MB RIMMS, and a number of $6.84 for 16MB chips. That comes to less than $55 for the 8 chips. Are you suggesting that the extra costs make up the difference of more than $150 for a RIMM?

Your number is absurd, but I'm not going to obsess about it or call you names.

most closed-box systems are using Linux when they can, which I believe is more stable and requires less memory.

Red Hat Linux runs very nicely on a 486 66MHz with 20Mbyte of ram (as long as one doesn't try to run a high resolution graphical user interface).
