I don't have exact figures or percentages. That's your bailiwick. All I'm saying is that we now have the means, in the form of a budget surplus, to lift the burden for millions of America's needy elderly. (Do you agree with that?)

I saw first-hand with my late neighbor how cash-strapped she was, living off her SS money and $200 a month provided by her daughter. She never had any money left over at the end of the month after buying her food and expensive medicine. I was over at her house all the time fixing shingles or leaky faucets or putting a new battery in her '73 Ford station wagon so she could drive to church and the beautician once a week.

Why is compassion for the less fortunate such a difficult concept to grasp for so many people? We (the USA) now have the means to improve the lives of America's needy elderly. So let's do that first and worry about a tax break for millionaires later. End of sermon.
