No, I'm not a gringo gentleman farmer.
I'm Costa Rican.
Although Costa Rica's very best coffee cannot be
bought locally, the two premier local brands
are Britt and Sunburst. I like the dark roast
myself, preferably whole bean (need to grind the
bean at the last possible moment).
Greg likes french coffee, which is quite dark.
One thing to remember the what makes good coffee
is the BLEND and roasting process. Here, the Germans/Italians are the experts. Most good blends
are a mix of robusta beans, which provide the
deep "kick" and arabica beans which provide the
aroma. Costa Rica mainly produces arabica bean,
so the drip coffee made here is quite mellow and
easy to drink without sugar, but lacks that deep
kick provided by the European blends.
Greg- I'm I off topic for this thread?
Ylang Ylangs- I love these trees and have some in my
yard. Did you know you make Channel No. 5 from
the flower extract of this tree?
Saludos, and next time you come to Costa Rica let me
know.
