No, I don't believe he has changed.

He has turned politician and has become a "master of obfuscation" in order to perpetuate the adulation he now enjoys. He certainly has learned from his past gaffes and his experience with President Bush. He will continue to be a so-called master manipulator of the economy as long as conditions allow him to be. But, as so often happens, conditions may suddenly arise to force him to espouse, say a return to the gold standard (or a quasi one) until normalcy is restored. (ggggggg)

Abandonment of the gold standard has led to excesses (slamming gold and printing unlimited amounts of paper currency which will eventually become confetti) that have
largely benefited a relatively few rich and powerful individuals and entities at the expense of the masses worldwide (the rich have become richer and the poor poorer)and caused economic distortions and imbalances all over the world.

A likely scenario in the future is a periodic alternation of adoption of the gold standard and abandonment of it, or maybe some "hybridization" of the two (ggggggggg)?
