Amy J, re Rudedog's nice account of the CPQ / MS platform, sounds like some people have been working very hard at playing catchup in the areas of availability and reliability. Hard for an Intellabee to say it, but it sounds something like the CPQ / MS platform is becoming to Sun as AMD has become to Intel...very competitive. It's even moreso, in the CPQ / MS platform case, in terms of price/performance and I guess price/availability, to coin a parameter. They are all over Sun. This will probably be the kind of thing where it takes time for customers to realize the value there, and the "nobody will get fired nowadays for specifying Sun" mantra will work for a while. But, it should be just a matter of time. I have time.

Actually, Compaq's Intel based server group had a very big jump in sales this past quarter vs. a year ago. It already is happening, just that there is enough business for everybody right now.

Dell's big cuts today, hard to figure that one out.
