I gotta bug you once. It's my first time (today).

I want to congratulate you on your decision. I have never been a smoker, other than an occasional cigar, so I can't really empathize.

But I do know how important your success in quitting will be to your family. Both of my parents began smoking in their early teeens (or earlier!) and quit in their late 40's. Four years later my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and had half a lung removed. He survived and is 76 years old now.

His lung cancer probably did not result from smoking. He work in the shipyards building ships for the British before the US became involved in WWII. He was exposed to a great deal of asbestos. However, if he had not quit smoking when he did, I have no doubt that he would not have survived the surgery. I thank God for giving my Dad the courage to quit, which he did with little trouble.

You will live a longer, healthier life without smoking. Your famiy will eventually be thankful for your courage.

Sorry for the sermon, but I had to say something!
