Rambus Sues Elpida Memory!
Is this the next headline?
Why couldn't they get an agreement with this new entity if they have been in existence since December of 1999?

MU Scales Back DDR Site

Micron keeps playing with its "Team DDR" site. It started out as a prominent link on the
crucial memory homepage:

crucial.com

This was about two months ago. Then, about a week ago, they removed the link. Now,
they have scaled back the page, calling DDR a "future PC memory technology." When
they first put up the site, they had language like this:

"The first wave of DDR-compatible motherboards is expected to hit the market sometime
this August or September, followed by a second wave later this fall."

crucial.com

Hey guys--time's a wastin'!

Now, at their main ddr site:

crucial.com

they have removed the "buy your bad self some DDR right 'chere" language, and note that
only qualified developers need ask for any sticks. They now link to module price and part
number information"

crucial.com

but it only serves to emphasize how far behind "Team DDR"really is--they've only
validated 64MB and 128MB PC1600 (100MHz) parts, and one PC2100 64MB part.

Too little, too late. Can't begin to keep up with Moore's law on the desktop or the video
card segment. Interesting niche memory; I'm afraid that we won't see many royalties from
it, even after Micron and Hyundai capitulate.
