Seems, we are both up musing and wandering. . .
Jesus turned Judaism on its ear. . . no wars, no fighting the Cannanites. . no holy city or promised land.
You know his teaching. . turn the other cheek, love your enemy, pray for those who persecute you. . . very Buddhistic
You are mixing your criticisms.
Christianity is unique. You say, "They all say they are."
You reject Christianity for the very reason you must accept it. . . It offends humankind's pride. . their sensibilities. . their humanity that grows and dances and creates its own wiggle room to maintain its own diety.
Buddhism and the teachings of Jesus are very similar. . but the first mandates DO. . and pride is maintained intact. The later mandates DONE. . a gift to be accepted or to be offended by. Funny to think that a divine and free gift can offend. Buddhism is the clenched fist. . leading to the destination. CHristianity is about the open palm.
And even more interesting to note that your objection to Christ is the same as the Jews of his day in this sense: "Nevermind his miraculous uniqueness, my offended sensibilities will not allow my knee to bend."

By the way, I think you are borrowing a thought from Ghandi, who is to have said, "I think that I would become a Christian, if it were not for all the Christians I have know."
The past atrocities of Christians do not negate the truth claims of Christ any more than low voter turn out diminishes the validity of Democracy.

Got any good stock picks?
