<<- my take on the market is this. I see a market that WANTS TO GO UP (!) but is scared to death and bails at the first hint of down draft. As 'V' says.. it's all psychology at this point.>>

Interesting observations....I have a brother who is only 27 and he is quite frustrated and tells me he may NEVER buy another tech stock again. In the last year he has been hit hard as an investor in CMGI and DELL. They are great companies that are clearly out of favor and testing new 52 week lows. It seems to me that the only people making real money on those stocks are the Market Makers (The Houses), the ANALysts, The Fund Managers, etc....certainly not 'the little guy'.....I only wish I had put my brother in SEBL....I'll have to find a way to make it up to him....;-)

Best Regards,

Scott (who is clearly hoping for a better October)

It never stops being psychology it always is, perception is the reality on wall street. Well the optical bubble has burst, but unlike the net sector these are real companies with real earning with very bright futures. So a bottom will happen, but sentiment needs to change. I believe we will get clues soon. Speaking of bubbles. We are in market that will continue to create bubble after bubble because of all that money laying around and the lack of broad support, storage is one right now that hasn't been pricked.

Greg---> riding the great bubble making machine.

09:01 ET Sanford Bernstein Cuts : Sanford Bernstein downgrading Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Nortel Networks (NT) to MKT PERFORM from OUTPERFORM. Says recent study of likely carrier capital spending plans suggests that growth in sales of telecommunications equipment will decelerate from more than 28% in 2000, to less than 20% in 2001. Sees impact in optical, data and wireless sectors.>>

Now the perceived slow down is being accepted as reality. Bad very bad. What will be the driver going forward?
