Thread- Now here's a PR warning that does have some substance about telco cap ex spending.

Apparently some SPs did cut back on spending with DSL equipment company, Paradyne(sym:PDYN). At this point it's hard to say if it's PDYN specific or not. Of course PDYN would say that their SP customers did not give another DSL equipment provider their business. I'm just not sure how much creedance to give that comment at this point. I used to know exactly who they sold to but have totally forgotten.

FWIW, as I recall there is a connection between PDYN and GSPN. And GSPN has a LU connection too. But again, I even forget what that is....I think that GSPN was created out of some engineers from the LU owned PDYN before PDYN was spun out. And LU retained interest in GSPN while selling out of PDYN completely. It's all from memory so I could easily be mistaken. -MikeM(From Florida)

"These customers have recently communicated to Paradyne that they will not be deploying the amount of equipment that they had previously forecasted. Paradyne also expects results in the fourth quarter of 2000 and calendar 2001 to be impacted by these changes."

"A few of our network service provider customers have changed their plans for rolling out DSL services and we no longer believe these customers will purchase significant amounts of our equipment. Based on meetings with these customers, they did not replace Paradyne with another DSL supplier, but they have changed their equipment purchasing plans."
