i-data in Negotiations to Acquire Eicon Technology MONTREAL, CANADA--SEPTEMBER 28, 2000 - 12:03 EDT Eicon Technology, a worldwide provider of Internet access products announced today that its two major shareholders are negotiating the terms of a proposed transaction with i-data international a-s ("i-data") pursuant to which they would tender their shares of Eicon to a C$5.00 cash take-over bid for all of the shares of Eicon. The bid, if made, would be conditional upon obtaining at least two-thirds of the shares of Eicon on a fully-diluted basis, no material adverse change having occurred, regulatory approval and other usual conditions to be specified by i-data and agreed to by the two major shareholders. The Board of Directors of Eicon has appointed an Independent Committee to review the Company's position and to make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
