The industrial revolution caused an increase in living standards and life expectancy, not decreases.

Pretty much all of the increase in life expectancy in the 19th century can be attributed to the purification of drinking water, except in areas like New Orleans where eradicating mosquitoes was also a significant factor. Factory made clothing and household goods are, of course, cheaper than hand made.
