Having grown up within 35 miles of Krispy Kreme's birthplace in NC, I can tell you my opinion about those donuts:

1) Overall, I much prefer Dunkin Donuts, especially the chocolate cake.

2) The plain old glazed donuts that Krispy Kreme makes are the best on the market, bar none, including specialty pastry shops. I know some people love creme/jelly filled/coated donuts, but their glazed donuts are what drives their business.

YMMV, of course.
