Are you thinking that 5% is too high? :)

I am the first to admit that I am nothing even close to an expert in the field.

My very microscopic (read: anecdotal) view is that Linux is nothing. I'm sure I know 500 computer users and business that use computers for all their needs, and zero are even considering Linux.

I have yet to see any business application in my sphere of influence that'll be switching anything to Linux, other than servers for internet access or the like. Real business software and home user software is not being threatened by Linux at any time in the forseeable (is that a word?) future.

There is tons of "neat" technology out there. Gizmoes and gadgets that are cool to see and speculate about their possibilities. But when you get down to trying to use them to make money, they don't cut it. I think Linux is that type of language. Neat to think about what it could do to the world of computers, but until it can actually do anything profitably for me, I'll stay with the MSFT's and ORCL's of the world.

Like I say, I am no expert. I have the same opinion about the Palm Pilot. Cool rolodex and calendar you can carry around with you, but just another business expense... The Daytimer fad did the same thing, but the Palm is "neater" or more fun to use.
