Willbros Announces Pipeline Award

TULSA, Okla., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Willbros Group, Inc. (NYSE: WG, news, msgs) announced today that one of its operating units, Willbros West Africa, Inc., has been awarded a major pipeline construction project in Africa. The project scope includes engineering, procurement, and construction of a 1,070 km (665 miles) 30" oil pipeline.

The project will be carried out by a joint venture between Willbros and Spie-Capag (Jersey) Ltd. Willbros is the leader of the joint venture. Engineering and procurement activities will begin immediately and pipeline construction is anticipated to begin in 2001.

Willbros Group, Inc. is one of the leading independent contractors serving the oil and gas industry, providing construction, engineering and other specialty oilfield-related services to industry and government entities worldwide.
