I suppose one could argue that money [ie. a currency] is at the root of a culture... while I agree that the EEC attempt to integrate Europe politically and culturally is misguided, I'm not so sure that one currency is that bad of an idea in itself. Many of the lesser countries tie business loans to the DMARK and Pound anyway... ever try to start a company on an Escudo loan??

Is one currency possible without all these political integration attempts?? Don't know. In the long run the alternative to the Euro is probably 1 or 2 major currencies being accepted Europe wide anyway IMO with the demise of the lesser currencies.
