Really, the bottom line is that many of us are comfortable in relativism for ourselves, but we distrust it in others. We distrust it in the NASA scientist calculating our flight path to the moon. We want him to fight for every inch of the truth. We distrust it in the woman separating Methyl from Ethyl. Don't want our kids going blind. And we distrust it wherever ssomething we truly value is at risk. Agreeing that we only approximate understanding of Truth, is not quite the same as treating it carelessly. Who wants to be stuck with a 2000 dollar telescope where the lens was ground improperly. I asked her if she was a virgin. Almost, she said. Neat, I answered, you almost married a millionaire.
