You don't need to be a lawyer. All you need is a dictionary.

What I posted was my personal opinion. Simple.

Look, let's just end off on this, shall we? I really have no desire to pursue it. You can vote for Gore. You can admire him. I won't vote for him because I do not admire him, or his boss, or his wife.

Fortunately for us, this is the United States, and we both have that freedom.

But, if you try to put words in my mouth again, expect another flame.

Good luck. See ya.

OK, I'll tell you what. I've been thinking about it, and you deserve an answer to your question, and an apology.

The thread header says "no personal attacks" and I personally attacked you. I apologize for that.

And here is my answer. This is my answer (and do me a big favor and don't lump me into some preconceived hallucination):

I don't particularly care for politicians. I think that in the current environment, and in the recent past, they are tools. I think most politicians are useless jerks, who would sell their sister for enough votes to win the election.

I also think that there are a few politicians that want to make things better for the rest of us. But I don't look at this from the same perspective as many other people. "Better" is a subjective term to most people. People who make porn movies think less censorship is 'better'. People who smoke crack think legalizing crack would make things 'better'. People who commit adultery think a more "liberal" view on sexual conduct is 'better'. If I smoke dope, then I would rather it be legal than the alternative, which is sitting behind bars if I get busted. If I enjoy sex with baby otters, I would really like it if I could walk down the street and let everyone know I screw baby otters and it's OK to screw baby otters and just because I'm different doesn't make me bad. All this time I thought I was psychotic and now that I'm a member of the We All Do Baby Otters Society, why, things are just fine!

In other words, things look a lot to me like "If I do it, it's got to be OK, and if it's OK for me, then it should be OK with everyone else, and if it's OK with everyone else, that would be better for me and for everyone else".

On the other hand, I think oppression of people is bad. I think that judging somebody on the color of his skin, or his education, is wrong. I think the big business people that pollute the planet should be brought to trial for their crimes. I think that there is a reason why you see three or four drug commercials every day on TV, and it's not a good reason. I think that those lying SOBs that stood in front of the United States Senate and said "I don't believe tobacco is addictive" are scum. I think that somebody who tells a Jew he is going to hell unless he changes his religious beliefs is an ignorant jerk. I think that a Muslim that kills a Christian because he is a Christian is a damned murderer.

Kinda boils down to a personal point of view about right and wrong. The truth is that just because it's good for me, it does not follow that it is good for everyone else.

I don't think that a man can commit felonies in one country and then claim he is clean in another country. In other words, I don't think that somebody that is committing adultery is my kind of leader. If that guy was my boss, I'd blow the whistle on him. I really would. Pun intended.

And if I were the Vice President under Bill Clinton (pun intended) I would have stated publicly that I deplored his actions the moment I found out about them. But I'm not the V.P. and I will never be the V.P.

It's unfortunate that if I bring up the word "morals" or "ethics" or "honor" somebody jumps all over me for being "self-righteous".

There comes a point where a reptile, or a mammal for that matter, has to say to himself, "This is not honorable. This is not right. This is wrong. I won't condone it. I won't agree to it. I won't cover it up. I won't do it."

You either get straight, or you go over to the Dark Side.

What's the Dark Side? That's another post.

I think anyone living in the United States is lucky as heck to live here. I don't think the United States owes anybody anything. I think it is an unfortunate fact that this country would be reduced to anarchy if the government checks did not go out for two months in a row.

I think it's unfortunate that a 5 year old kid with an allergy is told by his school teacher that he needs to take psychotropic drugs because he has a "chemical imbalance in his brain". I think it's unfortunate that a man can't get a job if he wants one, and another man can get paid by Uncle Sam simply because he doesn't want to work.

It's not about conservative or liberal. It's about right and wrong. Al Gore has nothing to offer me at all.

Uhh... Pardon me, BUT what TLC said about Gore falls well within what the US Supreme Court calls "protected free speech". FYI, it is close to impossible (but not actually impossible) to slander a prominent politician. You've got to REALLY lie and it's got to be REALLY personal- -not political. A great many statements that TLC might make about you or I that would be slanderous are not slanderous when made about Gore.
