<<If total PC grew 18.5% (per IDC) and MacOS sold less, Windows sold more. Basic math.>>

John, I wish it was that basic. As a result of todays announcement, I will lose about 50% on my AAPL investment, but it was a good learning experience.

AAPL was my PC play. I am dumping it tomorrow. I am never going to be exposed in the PC area again. If the company does not produce a product or service with a digital heartbeat (i.e., internet, internet, internet) I am staying away from it. IMO, MSFT revenue is based on PC sales. As JC said, it is a mature market and the life cycles end is coming at internet speed. I did not see it because of AAPL's new OS X. The OS, PC whatever you want to call it is dead.

I am taking this as a learning experience and I suggest you all do the same.

Bob.

Nice observation.

Sometimes the simplest equations go unobserved.

johnd--Where did it say that Mac unit growth was less than 18.5% year over year. Did I miss it or is that just your assumption. All I saw was that the dollar revenue was less than anticipated.
