Don't you think Roth and Chambers would be polling their customer base as well? Yes.

We're now in the season when the CEO asks the VP's to ask the Sales and Product Managers to ask the sales departments to ask the troops for 2001 sales estimates, so they can set budgets for the coming year. You bet they're polling customers. Can you, as a manager, rely on the estimates? Depends on the quality of the sales force....so how'd they do last year?
