We spent $50 million-plus in taxpayer money to put Susan MacDougal behind bars. I sleep safer at night because of that fact. I think in terms of importance in preserving the Constitution, I'd have to rank the great inquiries of the second half of the 20th century as follows: 1. Whitewater. (We put Susan MacDougal behind bars.) 2. Watergate. (Nixon resigned,the attorney general went to jail and G. Gordon Liddy became a nationally syndicated radio talk-show host.)
