not really...it's a serious publication, and well connected. i wouldn't know off the cuff what to compare it to as i'm not reading US papers except the occasional WSJ or Barron's. the FAZ is not a government mouthpiece like the Soviet Pravda used to be if that's what you mean. but there's e.g. this one journalist (Berry?) who reported on the CPI changes...he's considered to be used by the Fed for dissemination of information....this thing with the FAZ is similar. if the BuBa wants something in print, the FAZ hears about it.
