I agree with you that the FED acting now will be seen as a political action rather than what it is (same way releasing the oil reserves were seen). However I'm afraid that if the FED doesn't act somehow, that the economy is heading for a hard landing and fast. I never would have thought that we would be seeing so many warnings so soon. And this slow down in PCs and wireless I don't think it's isolated (there are too many big parties involved to be considered isolated). Plus around here there are now a ton of new homes for sale that nobody is buying (the real estate market was booming this time last year and now people are cutting prices by large amounts and still can't sell their house). So consumer spending may be slowing as well.

I may be misreading the signs, but I think a real slow down could be upon us and unless the FED acts (and acts quickly), we may be heading for a hard landing that won't be very pretty, no matter who the new president is. :-(
