Hi Doren!

>This will pass of course. As it always does.

Thank you thank you! I was about to get up on my cube and jump off, but I guess you're right!
I wouldn't have to sell Apples on the street! :-)

(Maybe I can find some, along the the pennies that people drop, on the street :-))

>It's dumb to try to buy happiness, when all you need are friends and nature.

heh heh Nice sentiment. Except we don't need mosquitos.

> Apple just happened to announce at worst possible moment.

Steve is really savvy, he musta known this would happen, look at all the other luminaries
that reported bad and got axed. Or as he testing Wall Street
("How much do you love us?" {splat}) He knows how much Wall Street loves Apple beforehand.

>'egos' get in the way.

out of context but yeah.....

> Way too complex for your average luddite. So they better get it right.

Totally agree. But, if they get it right....(they better)....wow

>Truth is the Cube ain't helping much.

Yes yesyesyes. IMO, Right model. Wrong (with a capital W) Price Point.

>Intel is way, way weak, and that makes Apple's PPC chips look positively pathetic in comparison.

That was not the way it was supposed to be, time period of G3.
Mot playing catch up. Will they find the mustard to get up to speed?

---

So...

Apple wants to buy back stock?????

Some one with a lot of pull wants more Apple?????

Some attempt to boost Apple stock (HoooYiii gotta see this one:) Steve knows that
this is a temporary thing and wants Apple to fly in a couple of quarters
when they bust through estimates (warnied you that it would be a good one!)

(or get this one heh heh ) Apple planning to merge with Microsoftie (on a roll)(maybe on Mars)

Any other cynical, paranoid thoughts that could be Mustered ???? (Don't have to catch up on THAT )?????

IMO,

main(){
If (Apple pulls off OS X)
If (Apple keeps & improves "ease of use" (not a beta tester - phhfffttt))
{
Steve has given us a really great buying opp
}else{
Apple Juice with pulp
}
}

/* :-) */

New AAPL Logo Slogan: "Think Less Different" instead of the typical apple logo with one bite mark, half the apple will appear to be eaten.

Hello Doren, Re: To hard nosed professional people like me it looks like form over function or maybe even desperation, meanwhile my main computer is now my $1100 homebuilt Athlon/98/NT.

As a current AMD shareholder (and an APPL shareholder and programmer in the '80s), I offer my condolences to current APPL shareholders. Others have mentioned APPL's current forward looking PE of 25 or so, I believe AMD's forward looking PE is now around 8! Having said that, let me add "I feel your pain".

At work we lost several thousand dollars when the vendor we purchased systems from went under financially. Since that time we have built our own machines and take our own risks. Currently I have built over 70 Athlon based systems at costs in the neighborhood of the $1100 you mention. These machines are in use daily, most of them are client machines running Win98 but a few are running as NT servers. ALL the Athlon machines are giving us excellent stable trouble free service and they are fast!

With the successful design and marketing of the Athlon, AMD has fundamentally changed itself from a follower to a leader and has an extremely bright future (IMHO). There has been talk on the AMD threads of Apple using AMD's chips in future designs, some seem to think that the port of OSX to the x86 instruction set would not be difficult. I'm not sure why MOT is having problems getting the G4 over 500 MHz, but I do know AMD is expected to market 1.5 GHz Athlons during the Q1 of 2001.

Perhaps there's a possibility of a symbotic relationship between these two companies?

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
