Yup. I use the example I used in training courses I've run in companies I've worked at. I draw two dots in the middle of the overhead and say where is the trend. The dots are centered but slightly at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock. Of course everyone knows the trend. And then I say, "Oh, yeah. There are two other data points!" Adding them, now at extreme 10 o'clock and extreme 4 o'clock, the pattern immediately changes in everyone's mind. I remind them that most people see what they expect to see. I told them there was a trend, they saw it. The data was in complete opposition to initial estimates. One has to let the data speak...
