ok
Absolutist believes X- and believes everyone who does not believe X is absolutely wrong.

Relativist believes Y- and believes that although he believes Y is correct it may not be correct, and isn't certain that other beliefs are incorrect.

Y cannot choose the mechanism of absolutism and remain a relativist- that is the ONE choice he cannot make. Once Y chooses to be an absolutist- and believes his view is superior to that of anyone else (and by this I mean believes that his belief is superior, in some extrinsic way- outside the confines of his own thoughts- in a way that makes it better in the world, objectively, as opposed to just a better idea for him, personally), he ceases to be a relativist.
