while they're all talking about the optical sector, which will probably report well--

Everyone wants the "magic bullet" sector and stock. Of late, people have tried to cast SAN/NAS in this light. Also, FO has been perceived that way, but people get scared and want to poke holes in it...so they follow the money trail back to the carriers and say FO must slow down. Notice that Sagawa said FO equipment makers will do well for the next two Q's...so fear is of a slowdown thereafter...anything to cause worry. This is hitting below the belt a bit, since many of these cos. don't like to give guidance that far out (SDLI, anyway, is not giving specific guidance beyond the next Q). My guess is key issue will be analysts grilling equip makers about next-year forecast, and perhaps Sagawa's gambit will cause the cos. to be a bit more forthcoming about future forecasts. Note that to the extent that such gloom and doom causes money to run away from a sector that is truly enjoying tremendous fundamentals, the capital that remains should have a better chance at good returns.
