The CFK warning appears to be purely weather related. They say they are looking forward to the freeze up as it has been too wet to drill.

When the Alliance pipeline actually opens I suspect that will also spur drilling in Western Canada. They aren't going to be able to fill the pipeline. That is going to raise wellhead prices as they try to obtain the needed NG, which should increase drilling.

Ok guys, The Dog was not about to give up on the Press Release. I found a company that will distribute it today to more than 9000 media sources worldwide for $275 (unless they come back to me on the length...this thing was over 1,000 words).

I think she said it will go out at 1 PM Eastern time.

(I also sent it to Rush...he's been talking about oil lately.)

You touch on a key reason sm E&Ps give higher returns vs lg caps >>

During exploration up cycles in the patch, the big old battlewagons take a lot longer to turn. Especially true in this cycle with the considerable amount of extra time that's been required to complete and consolidate the "super mergers" among the big international, integrated companies.

Not only does the decision to turn the big boat take longer, due to input from a larger crew of officers on the bridge; But they need and use more outside consultants (tugboats<g>) which also require time to prepare and present themselves to push the ship toward it's new compass heading.

And finally, there's the extensive layers of upper & middle management, and bureaucracy which the decisions have to work their way through before an important policy change on cap ex is implemented.

The sm players are far quicker on the draw and, as we've seen in every cycle. And they get their exploration programs going full blast just as fast.

The best of the sm NG E&Ps have already demonstrated excellent exploratory track records of finding the resource. That's where I've concentrated my focus for the growth portion of my portfolio since the beginning of this year. And there's A LOT more LT upside in these stocks over the next several years.
