Gordon, Barb, and all,

Between drug (and tobacco) tests and locker searches in grade school and the PC police controlling college campuses, it's a wonder that any student can emerge from the current education system as a semi-normal human being. I thought it was bad when I went through it, but it seems to be even worse today. :-(

I thought I'd post part of an interesting email that I just received from a Russian friend of mine who recently immigrated to Canada with his wife and little daughter. I had asked him about the tower in Moscow that caught fire about a month or two ago...

You know, Jim, during many year, Ostankina tower was the highest tower in the world and it was the symbol and the pride of the Soviet Union and now after it burned and the sunk of the KURSK submarine all "Soviet" people lost the last symbol - their lifes have been wasted! Their children left the country, died in Chachnya or became addictes...end of romantic dreams of people who believed in communism
It was the main reason of our immigration - we don't want to waste our life.

People in the West who are willing to give up their freedoms, for whatever reason, should spend some time where there isn't any. Now that would be an education. I've been to the former Soviet Union several times in the last few years and those people are really hurting over there, bad.
