yep...i frequently harp on this topic if you recall. in fact the financial economy is in a sense completely divorced from the underlying 'real' economy, on the other hand it has become so huge that its ups and downs determine what's happening in the real world instead of the other way around (the way it SHOULD be). once a bear market decimates stock trading volume to 1/10 of what it is today, a normal relationship will have been re-established.
