Milo,
RE:"With production Itanium systems already delayed until the middle of next year, it is very possible we won't see this chip at all, especially if Intel and HP have advanced McKinley's schedule"

Wassup with that? I thought Itanium was due THIS year?

RE:"But the source at Hewlett Packard, who declined to be named, also said that meant corporate America, by far the largest putative consumer of such a microprocessor, has forced the decision on Intel by rejecting its Merced-Itanium as unsuitable, even as a pilot system.
While Itanium is up in the air, the question becomes, can they do any better the second time around? "

Say what? Itanium unsuitable...?
P4 delayed, Timna DOA...now this...
Only 3 more to Merrill Flynch...ouch...

Jim

If this is the next bomb to drop, it will make Intel's other problems look insignificant. Despite the constant claim about McKinley relative to Itanium, I've been told several times that the "A" design team at H.P. is focused on PaRisc
and the "B" team on McKinley. So... what then is the Intel Itanium team called??? Intel better snap out of this funk soon. They are really losing it.
