Things are never as clear to the people living through events as the are to people looking back at them from 60 year in the future.

You for example still don't realize Bill Clinton is a dangerous psychopath but 20 years from now you will be wondering what in the world you could have been thinking.

What a noble character...It took him until 1939 to leave?

The Nuremburg Laws were passed in '35, and Kristallnacht, which ushered in a more aggressive period of persecution, occurred in '38.

Anyway, no one said he was a noble character. It is, however, the case that he broke with the Party and fled, and suffered in concentration camps, in horror at what he had helped to unleash, and that he was not in charge of the business in the 40s.......
