gary, Among the recent events, I would say the Timna one is kind of neutral. It should be quite normal for any company to have multiple projects in development and canceling some as needed is the correct way for a responsible management.

IBM used to do that (maybe still do) all the time. Start 3 development teams off together on similar products, wait a while, and pick the best looking one. I don't know that Intel has operated that way, though.
