I hear what your saying about trading the range, but my luck has been so bad, I prefer not to try and time anything right now.

What I find very ironic is that when I used to trade actively, it was proven that the best strategy would have been buy and hold. Now all of a sudden, I turn to less trading and more buy and hold ( well actually buy and sell for less !! )and it turns out to be wrong again. This is a traders market. You aint making squat unless your trading and frankly....this market has spent me both financially and emotionally, and actively tryng to time and trade this market is not something I wish to do. So instead, I buy quality...or at least it is until I touch it, then lawsuits start flying, earnings downgrade happens and etc......I find it simply amazing that everything I touch turns to $hit. I was in intel years ago.....kept watching and kept watching, waiting to get back in. Well, as soon as I do, BOOM ! Simply amazing. Qcom looked sick, I sold it, it got better, I bought back in, it got sick again. RMBS looked oh so strong...until I bought in....and etc, etc, etc, etc......it's an endless saga.

My concerns with the market now is that in an effort to eliminate some margin, I have taken a substantial call position. Margin made me nervous, as it should, but I also now find myself very on edge because I am sitting here holding contracts that could expire worthless or drop in value so fast I'll miss it if I blink.

I have qcom Jan 60 and 70
jdsu march 100's
intel jan 50's and 77.5's
ssti jan 30 and 35

and a few more, but I am really very nervous because of the end of year quickly approaching, yet the market is in the toilet. Plus, I still have some margin to eliminate. I was planning on selling some jdsu, qcom or rmbs and buy some calls, but sheez, I dont know what to do now....I dont know which I feel more on edge about....a high margin balance or a high concentration in pieces of paper that will disappear in january if the market doesnt rebound.

All I am hoping for is a nice rebound by Jan, so I can actually sell some things for a profit instead of a loss...mostly the calls obviously, and then be 100% out of margin with maybe a little cash position to take advantage of buying when carnage hits.
